Gordon and Pfister named McGill athletes of the week

Oct. 8, 2012

MONTREAL - Adam Gordon of Dollard des Ormeaux, Que., and Caroline Pfister of Sherbrooke, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill, for the period ending Oct. 7, 2012.

It marks the second consecutive week that both were named for the honour.

Gordon, a fifth-year centrefielder and designated-hitter with the Redmen baseball team, went 6-for-9 at the plate with four walks, one run batted in, three runs scored, one double and a homerun in three games, all victories by McGill. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound slugger is a 23-year-old masters student in electrical engineering who joined the Redmen in 2008 after graduating from John Abbott College.

Pfister, a 20-year-old architecture freshman on the women's cross-country running team, finished first of 44 competitors as the Martlets captured the Rouge et Or Open meet in Quebec City on Saturday. The 5-foot-3 distance specialist, who has represented Canada at several international age-class competitions, completed the four-kilometre race in at 14 minutes, 14 seconds, finishing 27 seconds ahead of her next closest competitor. Pfister joined the Martlets this fall after graduating from College de Sherbrooke.

Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
