MONTREAL (CIS) - Marie-Eve Dugas of the Sherbrooke Vert & Or and Sam Effah of the Calgary Dinos each won their second gold medal in as many days as three fieldhouse records fell on Day 2 of the CIS track and field championships, Friday.
The University of Western Ontario has a nine-point lead over Guelph, among the 22 CIS institutions competing on the women's side, while Guelph tops the men's division, with a four-point lead over Windsor and Alberta, heading into Saturday, the final day of competition at Richard Tomlinson Fieldhouse on the campus of McGill University.
Complete schedules and live results are available online at www.cisport.ca/e/championships/track/2008 or www.athletics.mcgill.ca.
Dugas, a fourth-year transfer from Repentigny, Que., won the 60-metre hurdles in 8.35 seconds. On Thursday, the CIS female athlete of the year won the 60m sprint. She went undefeated in both events throughout the indoor season.
Effah, a sophomore from Calgary, topped the men's 300-metre race in 34.23. He won the 60m on Thursday, a few hours after being named as the CIS male athlete of the year.
