Momoh, Faille named McGill athletes of the week Dec 10, 07

MONTREAL - Fatihat Momoh of Montreal, Que., and David Faille of St. Hilaire, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending, Dec. 9, 2007.

Momoh, a 5-foot-6, middle distance runner with the women's track and field team, won gold and silver medals at the Montreal Open meet hosted by McGill, Saturday. The second-year master's student in kinesiology, ran the leadoff leg of the winning 4x200m relay, which finished in 1:49.11. Momoh, 23, also reached the podium with a second-place finish in the 300m, crossing the line at 42.24 seconds. Momoh joined the Martlets in 2006 after completing an undergraduate degree at York University.

Faille, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound sprinter on the Redmen track and field squad, won one gold medal and had a fourth-place finish at the Montreal Open meet hosted by McGill, Saturday. The 23-year-old physical education senior ran the leadoff leg of the winning 4x200m relay, which was clocked in 1:30.57. He also just missed the podium in the 60m sprint, completing the race (won by Canadian Olympian Nicolas Macrozonaris) in 7.05 seconds. Prior to joining the Redmen in 2004, Faille attended Champlain College.
