MONTREAL - Sébastien Flynn of Dartmouth, N.S., and Briana Yerbury of Ottawa, are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 16, 2007.
Flynn, a 5-foot-7, 158-pound distance runner, captured the men's individual title and helped the Redmen place third of eight teams at the McGill Open cross-country meet, Saturday.
A 19-year-old arts freshman, Flynn completed the six-kilometre race in 19 minutes, 57 seconds to finish first of 132 runners. He came to McGill from Prince Andrew high school in Dartmouth.
Yerbury, a 5-foot-7 fullback with the rugby Martlets, scored 16 points as McGill blanked Bishop's 51-0 at Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Que., Sunday.
The 19-year-old history freshman tallied a pair of tries and added three conversions. She joined McGill out of Dawson College.
