MONTREAL - McGill distance runner Sébastien Flynn of Dartmouth, N.S., has been named male athlete of the week by the Quebec Student Sports Foundation, for the period ending Sept. 16, 2007.

It marks the second straight week that a McGill athlete has won the Quebec conference nomination. Alastair Crow, a Redmen rugby player from Victoria, B.C., received the honour last week.

Flynn, a 5-foot-7, 158-pound distance runner, captured the men's individual title and paced the Redmen to finish third of eight teams at the McGill Open cross-country meet, Saturday.

A 19-year-old arts freshman, Flynn completed the six-kilometre race in 19 minutes, 57 seconds to finish first of 132 runners. He came to McGill from Prince Andrew high school in Dartmouth.

The QSSF female recipient was Laval soccer star Virginie Jacques. More details posted at: www.sportetudiant.com.
