MONTREAL - Zaria Stoffman of Vancouver, B.C., came away with gold and silver medal-performances for McGill at the first track and field competition of the 2007-08 indoor season, the McGill Open, held at Tomlinson Fieldhouse, Saturday.
In what was the team's best-ever performance at their own season-opening meet, McGill athletes came away with a combined total of three golds, four silvers and five bronzes.
Stoffman, a 19-year-old philosophy sophomore, won the women's high jump with a distance of 1.60 metres and finished second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.30 seconds.
The only other member of the Martlets to win gold was Heather McCurdy, a physical education junior from Belleville, Ont., who leaped 10.90m in the triple jump.
On the men's side, freshman Dong Liu captured the high jump with a distance of 1.75 metres.
