MONTREAL - Lauren Whyte of Belleville, Ont., and Ken Morin of St. Prosper, Que., are the McGill University athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 12, 2006.

Whyte, a 5-foot-7 distance runner with the cross-country team, led the Martlets to a best-ever second-place finish at the CIS national championships in Quebec City, Saturday. A 20-year-old political science junior, Whyte completed the five-kilometre course in 18 minutes and one second to place fourth of 115 competitors and earn all-Canadian honours.

Morin, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenceman with the hockey Redmen, scored two points in a pair of weekend victories as McGill extended their undefeated streak to five games. In Friday's 2-1 victory at York, he snapped a 1-1 tie with the game-winner early in the third period. The next day, Morin assisted on the winning goal in a 3-0 shutout at Guelph.
